My Teaching PhilosophyI believe that education in the university setting should provide students with the opportunity to connect, inspire, and foster their transformative learning (MRU Academic Plan, 2023-2030). This includes connecting students to enrich their learning experiences by connecting to the community, inspiring students by providing them either community services or work integrated learning, and transforming students’ lives by cultivating their academic and personal growth. As a university instructor for over a decade, I teach with the aim of helping students to learn by empowering them with a liberal education that embraces socially and culturally diverse communities. Consequently, students are more motivated in their content learning with higher self-efficacy and retention.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I acknowledge that we are on Treaty 7 territory, the traditional lands of the Stoney Nakoda Nations of Wesley, Chiniki, and Bearspaw; three Nations of the Blackfoot Confederacy: the Pikani, Kainai and Siksika; and the Tsuut'ina First Nations.
Treaty 7 territory is also shared with the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
Before the signing of Treaty 7, and prior to the establishment of provincial boundaries, this region was also used by the Ktunaxa and the Maskwacis people. I acknowledge the past, present, and future generations of these nations who help us steward this land, as well as honour and celebrate this place of creativity, collaboration, and learning.
